How Terim Met Zellas

Part 7: Epilogue

Three months after the wedding...

"Zela are you alright?" Terim looked in on his wife.

Zelas glared at him before last night's dinner decided it didn't want to stay in her stomach. She turned back to the porcelain deity.

"You are definitely seeing the healer today."

"Congratulations, Mr. Graywords," the healer smiled. "In about half a year, you're going to become a father."

Zelas's jaw dropped.

"That's great!" Terim grabbed his wife in a big hug.

"Now there are several things that you'll have to do to make sure the baby isn't harmed. No smoking. No drinking."

"No problem," Terim pressed a switch.

Something blew up somewhere.

"The wet bar and your cigarette stores. I thought this might happen."

Zelas tried to be mad at him but the thought that she was going to be a mother was too distracting. Plus she'll need to distract Xelloss for a period of several years.

Xelloss woke up to find a list of demands from his often absent master.

"Let's see. Find two identical snowflakes. Separate that pile of white stuff in the store room into salt and sugar using only a tweezer. Alphabetize my Mazoku minions. Transfer all of my documents on to a grain of rice with Cliff Notes. Kill the publishers of the 'How to get revenge' series. Clean out the basement."

Xelloss blinked. "But no one has entered the basement since before the Kouma Wars."

Nine months after the wedding...

"Just a little bit more miss," coached the midwife.

Zelas tightly gripped Terim's arm, if only to keep herself from blasting the midwife. Easy for her to say just a bit more.

"You can do it," Terim smiled warmly at his wife.

"I'm going to kill you," Zelas hissed.

"Been there, done that."

"This is all your fault!" Zelas twisted his arm around like a pretzel.

Terim was glad he was double-jointed but it still hurt a bit. "As I remember, you were quite a willing participant."

Zelas, having no good comeback, starting doing what anyone else would do. She began to swear nonstop and throttle her husband.

"I have been in withdrawal for the last six months and all I get is this pa-AIN!" Zelas's fingers dug into Terim's metal gauntlet protected arm. "I've never inflicted this much pain on anyone!"

"Just one more..." the midwife said nervously. There were Mazokus all around the outside of the building soaking up the delicious pain.

"She screams like the Lord of Nightmares is torturing her," hissed a Mazoku.

"IYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

"All pregnant woman seem to but it would take too long to explain. Let's go back to feasting."

"Yeah."

"There he is," said the midwife, holding the bawling red newborn.

"You can let go now, Zela," Terim remarked wryly.

Zela smiled sheepishly and let go. An impression of her grip still remained on the gauntlet.

"Well that's something to show our bright little boy when he's older," Terim took the swaddled newborn from the midwife. "Do you want to see him?"

Zelas, definitely looking worse for wear, gave him a withering look. "After six months of no smoking or drinking and these last several hours of pain, I'd better see what came out of all of it."

Terim smiled and handed the baby with wispy light violet strands of hair to his peevish wife.

She looked in wonder at the tiny perfect features of the pale skinned baby. He moved at her touch, opening his bright blue slitted eyes.

"He has your eyes," Terim said softly, kissing his wife on the brow.

"What will you name him?" asked the midwife.

"How about after his mother?" Terim looked down at his wife who was still in awe at the small delicate bundle in her arms. "Zel?"

"Zelgadiss," Zelas said firmly, kissing the baby. "Zelgadiss Graywords."
